APPRENTICESHIP EVENT

Meet with students to offer expert insight into the apprenticeship route into a future career.

What is an Apprenticeship Event?

An Apprenticeship Event is an opportunity to inform and inspire young people about becoming an apprentice. The format may include giving an overview of what an apprenticeship is and the subjects/industries that offer them, showcasing current apprenticeship opportunities within your local community, or explaining the pathways that an apprenticeship can lead to for young people either in general or within a particular sector/company.

How should I prepare?

The organiser should let you know the focus of the encounter beforehand so that you know what to expect whether that be to discuss your own experience as an apprentice, explain the routes within your company/sector, or share information about the different apprenticeship schemes available to young people.

We find that sharing real experiences or case studies of recent apprentices resonant most with young people considering an apprenticeship. It is also helpful to provide specific information on how to apply, entry requirements, course/job expectations etc to provide young people considering this step with the details needed to make their decision.

What is the impact of an Apprenticeship Event?

An apprenticeship can be the right career choice for many young people but often they do not have the information to make an informed decision. This event type helps provide them with not only the technical details needed but also inspiring career stories to help the young people understand if this is the correct route for them.
