Vicky Snow – Associate Director at Värde Partners
Anca Ionescu – Cyber Security Intern at ASOS.com
The students were exposed to the career journey of each role model who shared how maths played a part. Followed by Q&A to get a real understanding of why maths is relevant.
What did the students learn?
“I didn't really used to see maths as being important or useful but it changed my mind.”
“It helps girls to feel that they are just as good as everyone else
“I am more confident after this event.”
"It has made me feel like I can now speak up and share my answers whether they are wrong or right”
“Was very helpful and important. It made me think that I can go beyond and further my achievements”
Research shows by following 4 encounters with professionals, the likelihood of pupils being NEET (not in education, employment or training) are reduced by 86%.
81% of teachers felt our events helped students to connect what they are learning with the world of work.
85% of students said they’d like to have more employer encounters in the classroom.
