As part of the Sixth Form Enrichment Programme, Giovanna Newbery, KS5 Curriculum organises for role model events via Founders4Schools for their students, giving them the amazing opportunity to meet local employers who speak to the students about the wonderful world of being self-employed.
So far, Giovanna arranged for three role model events, featuring local millionaires and successful business leaders and we've received her amazing feedback. Read about Giovanna's experience with Founders4Schools in the interview below:
How did you first hear about Founders4Schools?
I was given the name of Founders4Schools by the Principal of North Herts College in 2013.
What made you decide to use the Founders4Schools service each year again?
The ease of access for organising visits and calibre of keynote speakers.
What have the benefits been for you?
The benefits are multifold in that all students are inspired in some way by the speakers and the sessions allow students to ask tailored questions and they are given the advice, guidance and expertise of business people who have many years' experience.
What was the process of creating an event like?
The process is efficient, timely and well organised.
What impact and feedback do you get from your students on the event?
Students always enjoy listening to other teachers! The information and guidance they receive is invaluable to them. Students and staff particularly liked Shailen's RPM acronym; we will all remember 'Result, Purpose and My action' as it will always resonate and be applicable whatever pathway the students choose. We also learnt about the exciting role of a 'data architect,' students did not realise that such a role existed and the importance of such practitioners in the workplace.
Why would you recommend other teachers/schools to try F4S?
I have recommended F4S for all the reasons listed above.
