About the Role

Are you passionate about sharing your university journey and inspiring others? Become an OakNorth - F4S Student Ambassador and take the lead in shaping the future by guiding younger students on their career paths. This paid role offers a unique opportunity to not only contribute to your community but also develop valuable skills that will benefit your own career.

As an Ambassador, you'll represent your university, connect with like-minded peers, and help recruit industry volunteers from local scale-up businesses to inspire school students to explore their career options.

About F4S

F4S is a national ed-tech charity connecting the private sector with education. More than 2 million career acceleration encounters have taken place over their platform which enables high impact mentoring by volunteers drawn from SMEs, startups, scaleups and universities.

Make a lasting difference by inspiring school students aged 11-16 to consider STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects and empowering them to explore future career possibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruit Volunteers

Serve as a representative of the OakNorth - F4S programme at your university, attracting and recruiting peers and local scale-up company volunteers to mentor students.

2. Build a Student Community

Engage with fellow university students and create a community of individuals passionate about mentoring and career development. Use social media, campus events, and personal outreach to build connections.

3. Collaborate with Ambassadors Across the UK

Work closely with other Student Ambassadors from 18 universities across six UK cities to share ideas, successes, and best practices, contributing to a national impact.

4. Volunteer and Mentor

Take part in virtual or in-person mentoring sessions, sharing your personal career journey with school students and inspiring them to pursue higher education and STEAM careers.

5. Promote the Programme

Work with the Regional Coordinator and other University Ambassadors to promote the OakNorth - F4S program to local schools and ensure that the greatest number of students benefit.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Education

You must be enrolled in a university program that requires Maths as an entry qualification.

2. Leadership

You will be leading a team of mentors, so strong organisational skills, multitasking, and the ability to manage various stakeholders (students, educators, and industry professionals) are essential.

3. Excellent Communication

As the key point of contact between OakNorth - F4S and your university, you'll need exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with peers, teachers, and community volunteers.

4. Passion for Education and Mentorship

A genuine desire to inspire and empower school students to make informed decisions about their education and career paths is at the heart of this role.

5. Location

We are currently recruiting University Ambassadors in six regions:

● London

● Birmingham

● Bristol

● Newcastle

● Leeds

● Manchester

You should reside in or be able to easily access schools and educators in one of these regions.

6. Right to Work in the UK

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
